Nice Weather this Week with an *Asterisk

If you like beautiful, tranquil weather (and who doesn't), you are gonna love the next few days!!

Large high pressure moving over the Midsouth to start the week with some record lows possible tomorrow night-with lows falling into the 50's in many areas. Highs* though, will rebound quickly into the 80's to the low 90's by week's end. Hey, it's still summer for another 3 weeks anyway!

Strong Hurricane Jemima ( I mean Jimena), which is Cat 4 storm with winds up to 140 MPH according to the National Hurricane Center, now is moving northwest toward Baja California and, could indirectly influence our weather in the Midsouth before all is said and done. ( I for one would love to see some of that moisture move into South Texas.)

More later.

Testing 1.2.3.....

Just testing my mobile device to see if it was working.

Gonna be a muggy next couple of days with temps back in the 90's. Look for rain chances to increase Friday into Saturday. Possibly some storms........

Warming Up-Then Cooler Still!!

Another mild day (for August standards) is occurring here in the Midsouth. Although a return flow has already began to set up and even though it is muggier than it was 48 hours ago-still not bad!

Temps will come back up to normal levels before another cold front invades the Midsouth later this weekend with even cooler air possibly behind this one. Some record lows may be recorded early next week.

The East coast may be dealing with a tropical system by that time. Sure would like to see that moisture find its way over to South Texas. Plenty of tropical season left for that to happen though.

Some models are hinting at a pretty moist September which could make September cooler than average. Stay tuned!!

Listen....................

Did you hear that? If you listen real close , you can almost hear IT. The gentle north breeze, a cicada finding its flight, the loud THUD of hickory nuts falling on our metal utility building after being gnawed and dropped by "cat" squirrels. The sign are all there-FALL IS IN THE AIR!

Beautiful, event-less weather is in store for the MIDSOUTH the next few days. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Canada who may be in the path of Hurricane Bill, which has been downgraded to a CAT 1.

Looking down the road a bit, some models have a tropical system coming up into Caribbean and possibly the Gulf late next week-still a long ways out to try to predict .

Last night's low was 66. Today's high was 83. Tonight's low is expected to be @ 59 degrees! Sweet!!

T'storms On the Horizon

Thunderstorms are currently making their way across the Mid south this morning. Look for additional development of storms today and tonight as a cold front will eventually move through the area.
There is a "slight risk" for severe storms today and tonight for areas of the Mid south .
According to the Storm Prediction Center, high winds are the main concerns with this threat.
The photo featured today is from Tuesday night as a thunderstorm moved across rural Lincoln County, Arkansas.

Sultry South Soakers Possible

It looks as though precipitation will be increasing today as a meandering front along with short waves and outflow boundaries move and rotate thru the Midsouth the rest of this week.  Look for cooler temps this weekend with lows falling into the mid 60's by Sunday morning.

A Midsummer's Weather Slumberfest

The Midsouth experienced another warm night overnight with lows mostly in the lower 70's.
For the next few days, a rather tranquil weather pattern will prevail over us as high pressure takes over.  Lower humidity and temps in the lower 90's will be common as the high pressure holds strong for the next few days.

A "return flow" is forecasted to set up over the weekend with small chances of thundershowers beginning on Sunday as moisture from the Gulf returns to the Midsouth.

Parade of Storms this Morning

One MCS has already moved thru the Seark (Southeast Arkansas) and with more back-building in the central part of the state, look for more storms later this morning.  Several storms are currently "warned" (high winds, hail the main threats).  Unstable air seems to be overcoming the "cap" in place over the western part of state.   The thunderstorm threat continues this afternoon.  I don't see the temps reaching the upper 90's today as forecasted earlier.

Heads up Seark!

Sultry Summer Makes a Return

Hot and humid conditions returned to the Seark Monday as temperatures climbed into the mid 90's.  Heat index readings were in the 102-107 range. Isolated thunderstorms also developed over portions of the Seark yesterday.

Early this morning showers formed over the Southeast Arkansas, proof of just how moist it is out there today.  If clouds from MCS in NE/KS and from our system hang with us very long this morning, temperatures may have difficulty meeting NWS guidance levels.

With such high humidity and temps rising into the low 90's for sure, widely scattered storms cannot be ruled out anywhere.

The MCS in KS/NE/MO will have to be monitored for further development. Possibility of outflow boundaries from those storms effecting us is negligible.

The atmosphere looks to dry out in the latter part of the week, with Friday possibly being one of the warmest days this month.

Slight Risk Saturday

The Storm Prediction Center says there is a "slight" risk for severe storms today from the ArkLaTex eastward thru the SEARK into the Midsouth region. Main threats are high winds and large hail but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Would not be surprised to see a T-storm watch issued later today.
